Alien Covenant

2017 | PROCESS & BEHIND THE SCENES

The 2017 sci-fi horror is the 6th film to the Alien series directed by Ridley Scott. This movie has the most beautiful poster in my opinion, totally love it.

Animating it has been a tremendous feat for me, because it involved non-human figures. I spent some time studying the anatomy and movement of the xenomorph using film footages and videos as reference.

I used a mix of hand-painted ink and digital illustration Procreate on Ipad Pro to illustrate the figures, frame by frame. Illustrations were then printed on art papers and assembled to create the folds and sequences.

Here’s one sequence that was a challenge for me to draw. The crawl and pounce.
