2017 | PROCESS & BEHIND THE SCENES
My first and only animation based on a horror-flick. Storyboard drawn and painted with ink. The look I aim for is of a contrasting black & white. The flow of the ink strokes to create a dramatic and dynamic effect on the illustration, and realizing this is exactly what I wanted for the final art direction.

Some storyboard shots and preliminary illustration to help determine the scenes and direction.
Painting Annabelle with just dark sumi ink, a good Kolinsky brush and acid-free cartridge paper.
Test videos (made in the wee hour while toiling thru the night painting...eeks!)
Set pieces were created with paper and ink illustration, a mild mix of 3D with 2D black and white illustration.
